Regional Store Director)
When Robert Taplin first came to us through the Work
Adjustment Training Program, he was quiet and sometimes unsure of himself. Always polite
and courteous, he quickly became a favorite among his coworkers, both for his abilities
and his drive. Over time, Robert acquired a confidence in his work that enabled him
to take on more responsibility and learn new skills. With help from his teacher,
Mrs. Joanne Lewis, and his training at Goodwill, Robert was ready for a new challenge.
When a cashier position became available at our Valley Mills Drive store, Robert was
the obvious choice. Since transferring to the store, Robert has acquired a whole new
set of skills. He has learned to run a register, how to price and tag clothing and
other merchandise, and has learned new customer service skills. His supervisor,
Tammy Taylor, said, "I wish I had 50 of him!" He has also made his
customary impression on his coworkers - an impression of quiet capability and great pride.
Robert Taplin has shown us all what determination and effort can accomplish.
Congratulations!
